A space to be heard

Perhaps you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck or simply needing somewhere to talk.

I offer counselling in Totnes, as well as online sessions, providing a quiet, confidential space to explore what is happening in your life, without judgement or pressure to have the answers.

We can work together at your pace, paying attention to what feels important to you.

IIt can sometimes feel a little scary beginning counselling, and I provide a safe and gentle space where there is no pressure to rush or to be anywhere other than where you are.

Louise Fago-Ruskin, counsellor in Totnes

Hello, I'm Louise

I’m an integrative counsellor offering a warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and be met as you are. My approach is gentle and collaborative, shaped around you rather than a fixed way of working.

I came to counselling after many years working in higher education and the creative arts, where much of my work involved supporting people through periods of change, uncertainty and challenge. I bring that experience of listening, curiosity and working alongside people into my counselling practice.

I also have experience working with neurodivergent individuals and am able to provide the structure and understanding needed to feel safe to share.

My own experience of counselling was truly transformative. I came to therapy while navigating a big life change and found comfort, insight and the strength to move through a challenging time in my life. That experience has stayed with me and is part of what drew me towards counselling — and towards helping others find their own places of understanding and peace.

About

How I work

I work integratively, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches according to you and what you bring, so that I can be flexible and responsive.

At the heart of my practice is the safe relationship we build together. I offer a warm, thoughtful and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and at your own pace.

Sometimes our work may involve exploring past experiences and the ways they continue to shape the present. At other times, we might pay attention to what is happening in the here and now — including feelings, patterns, relationships and what you notice in your body.

I won't tell you what to do or assume that I know what is best for you. Instead, we can be curious together about your experience and what might help things begin to feel different.

Choosing a counsellor is a very personal decision. You’re very welcome to get in touch for an initial conversation, where you can tell me a little about what brings you to counselling, ask any questions, and get a sense of whether working together feels right for you.
